What they are trying to point out is that for an AMD64 3000+ to be rated at a stock speed of 2.0ghz...makes it a socket754.

    The AMD64 3000+ s939 is a 1.8ghz stock speed.

Somewhere in your post is a mistake...

well either they lied, or they accidently did that which is always possible.

Okay what happened was you got one of those wierd crippled socket 939 chips with 1600mhz HTT. They aren't officially listed on AMD's site, but were available to OEM suppliers. You do have a 2000mhz chip with 1600mhz HTT which would rate it a 3000+. What you really need to worry about upgrading is your video card since your onboard performs worse than a X300 SE.

                      Here's your reference board:

Okay so your price range for a video card is around $100? I'd suggest spending a little more than this, at least $150. I'll see what I can come up with for cheap.

                          Something like this:

                          Nvidia:

One of these at the least:

                          ATI:

You could go OEM to save a few bucks:

It's just a reference board for the RS480 chipset, meaning that the board your company actually makes can be different.
