Which aftermarket Heatsink???

Ok so ive got an amd 4000+ with the standard heatsink, the weather has beeen pretty hot in the uk and my cpu is running a little high in my opinion.

What i want to know is which is the best aftermarket heatsink/fan for my processor please take into account noise and reliability. Thanks, also do these fans come with the thermal paste pre applied as i dont know how to do it myself...

Scythe Ninja or mine (I think it's mine anyway), the two best heatsinks out there. Or the tuniq tower. Applying your own paste is extremely easy, all you do is follow the instuctions. Wrong forum, this should be in the Tech Center.

I agree but get the falt1y version. Mine dropped the temps alot i cant remeber wat they were as i took the benchmarks and forgot to take a note of them.

The Scythe ninja, mine, or Tuniq tower are going to provide some of the best air cooling available. I recommend the scythe mine because of it's slightly smaller profile and great mounting system.

According to the specifications on the sythe ninja it doesnt support my 939 amd 64 so ill have to think of something else. Also not quite sure about fanless how does it work.

Yes it does, how else would I be using one.

You buy a seperate 120mm fan, but if you're too lazy go with the mine (it's better anyway).

It's only fanless if you don't buy a fan for it. It has 120mm fan mounting brackets and like Matdef said it's comaptible with socket 939.

Ive purchased the ninja should get it tomorrow it comes with a 120mm fan would i be better buying a different one or using the one that comes with it?

Also dont want to sound a dumbass but at the moment i have the standard HSF would i need to buy some thermal paste and thermal paste remover to get the standard thermal pad off the original HS.

Wreck have you had any problems with your medusa headset because sometimes on mine the sound goes completely from one ear, if i wiggle the cord near the controller with the 3 volume settings it returns back to normal.

Use the fan that comes with it. Use pure rubbing alcohol to remove the old paste, then add a rice grain sized drop of arctic silver 5. I recommend heating up the heatsink before you try to remove it, so either play bf2 for 30 mins or use a hairdryer. When you are removing it, gently twist from side to side and pull up, be careful (if you pull it straight up you risk yanking the proc out too). And make sure the computer's off too.

OMG i havent ordered any thermal paste, so what your saying is get some pure alcohol to remove old stuff (even though its the standard pre-applied thermal pad) and then put a little artic silver 5 on the processor?

Would Coolermaster High Performance Thermal Compound be good enough to use instead of artic silver 5???
