i having a bit of trouble finding the right setting and would like some help
My Card is a Point Of View 6800XT 512mb DVI TV-Out AGP

My PC:
AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.8ghz
1gig RAM
Power 500W

Runing these setting on BF2:
Display Mode 1024x768@75ghz
Terrain - Med
Effects - High
Geometry - Med
Texture - Med
Lighting - Med
Dynamic shadows - Med
dynamic Light - Med
Anti-Aliasing - Off
Texture Filtering - Med
View 100%

Get a better cpu and another gig of ram and put everything on highest :)

For now I would put geometry to high so you can see vehicles from further away.

If you want better performance, turn off dynamic light and shadows first.

For your mic problem, do you have AC'97 onboard sound?

Well, after you change your settings it is a good idea to delete your shader cache so that BF2 can reoptimise itself.

Go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

and delete everything in it.

Other than that it is up to you to play with the settings until you get the best visual quality with descent fps.

TURN DYNAMIC SHADOWS OFF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this will add many many many FPS

Use this guide here: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html and go to the In-game settings (I think it's page 5). It will tell you what you need and what you don't need performance wise...very valuable resource.

But I would definitely stick 1GB of RAM in there too...it will help tremendously.

If you need to gain FPS you can turn off Texture Filtering (medium = 2xAF) and Dynamic Lights and Shadows. As has been said before, put Geometry on High so you can see things at the farthest possible distance from yourself.

I had these problems to, until I got an X-Fi, so I recommend you buy one aswell, the AC'97 cards which you probably have, have got no end of problems, with driver updates partial fixes at best.

i recommend turning ur settings from high to medium....the difference is hardly noticable, but low to medium is a world of difference, also, dynamic shadows, and lighting....might want those off..

anti-aliasing hardly does anything...set that to off as well...

also, terrain on low is a better advantage....you might think you are hiding in a bush, but to someone with low terrain settings, the bush is less bushy, and you are visible....so for the advantage, i would set it low.......

oh yeah, texture filtering doesnt do much, i would turn that low...

yeah......nothing too extraordinary there......it just makes things look smoother....

Ur Graphic Card should Be ATI or Nvidia
