No microphone boost options!

Hi all,

For some reason in windows, it doesn't let me enable microphone boost!



I tried downloading newer drivers for it, and it still didn't show up. Is this because my microhpone doesn't support it? Or my sound hardware doesn't support it? (Sound harware in bottom left corner of pic.)

It is becoming extremely annoying because everyone constantly complains to me about how soft I am etc. etc. In ventrilo I have my outbound turned all the way up, and apparently I am still too soft. In BF2 I have to scream at the top of my lungs and shove my mic. halfway down my throat only to get a "you're too quiet" reponse.... If anyone can help me with this I would be extremely happy, thanks..

Edit: I know its not a stereo mic, but whether this is enabled or not, I am still way too soft.

hmm, I'll try finding another newer driver, this one looks out of date too...


OK, I got an even newer driver, and there is still no boost options anywhere.

Is your audio system on auto-detect for what is plugged in? It may be incorrectly identifying your microphone and not giving the correct options. Try and find the manual set up and make sure its correct. The fact that its giving you stereo options indicates that it doesnt really know what the mic is.

When I ran AC97 audio I had this crappy little realtek icon in my system tray. From there I could bring up the control panel with the so-called jack detect feature. Many times it incorrectly identified things. It seems to have particular problems with passive and active speakers so I daresay it has similar troubles with microphones.

the only thing i can see about "jacks" is an option called "synchronize the phonejack switch with the speaker settings" I have no idea what that even means... lol
