weird graphics with Gigabyte GeForce 7900 GT?

hi guys,

was just wondering whether anybody could give me any input on these screenies:

a friend suggsted temperature issues? my CPU is overclocked, however operating at a max of 50C. can this have any relation to the graphics errors I am getting? the newest (84.21) nforce drivers are installed - any help greatly appreciated!

btw, is there any way to check the temp of the graphics card?

Your graphics card is overheating and causing artifacts, so you might need to call gigabyte. To check the temps, right click desktop-->properties-->settings tab-->advanced-->click the geforce 7900gt tab-->click temperature settings.

right, will open it up then and alt-tab out of bf2 when i notice them. what temp is too high? the default throttledown threshold is set to 125C in the nvidia properties?

I'd say anything higher than around 95c full load is too high.

You really don't want it to go much over 90C. Mine is overclocked and it runs at around 70C when gaming.

any way to have the temp displayed ingame? would really help things - not sure by how much the temp drops as soon as i alt-tab out of the game to see the properties...

I use riva tuner to show temps, as it gives a nice graph so you dont need to see it ingame: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163
You could also use it to underclock your card if you cant RMA it

The 79GT are know to have some overheating issues with some small chip on them. Check the following link for possible anwsers.

90 degrees will not kill you chip right away but if its at this tempreture for large amounts of time then your graphics cards life will be alot shorter

70 degrees or lower is where you want it

i would also try using the newest 91.28 drivers

thx all for your replies, it does seem to have been an overheating issue. am keeping tabs more closely now on the temps, thanks to the progs in the links.

well my temp on my 7800 is 47. so i guess 47 should be the same. but you have a different card.
