well in portugal we only use por que to answer something, like "Why did you do this?"= "Porque fizeste isto?"

in portugal por que(separated) is used to other stuff but not because, for example:
"I'd like to know why didnt he told me the truth"
"Gostaria de saber por que não me disse a verdade"

Annoyingly I have too many langauges I can learn... Cebuano (Philippine dialect), Moari, Spanish even... though I have been told most likely the first one.
