I dunno... its wierd... the fanbase behind it can possibly be explained through this article if you can be bothered reading. The funny thing is, MLP: Friendship is magic is dominating the trending pictures on Know your Meme and is still on the trending bar.

Basically, why many people that shouldnt like the show like it is because there is actually a great deal of care that went into it, and Lauren Faust, the executive producer or something like that worked on the PowerPuff Girls and Fosters home for imaginary friends.
