What is a good video card temp?

well my evga geforce 7600GT CO is running at 60 just running some programs, so im pretty sure thats to hot, how can i cool it down?

is that under load ie, when u are playing games or when ur at windows & its not doing ne fing?

If its whilst gaming that temp reading is fine.

If its whilst windows is just sat there, maybe u should consider installing some case fans, preferable one at fron intaking cold air & one at the rear exhausting the air.

well its with some files on already nothing to big, but i donno if i can get more fans in this POS dell case

you need to find out what it is while your gaming. Play bf2 for 5 min. and alt - tab out and see what it is.

Dells are notorious for having poor cooling (rumor is that this is one of the reasons the bought Alienware, for their cooling technologies).

If this helps, I have a 6800GS model, O/C to 510/1100, and running BF2 for 2-3 hours it never breaks 54 degrees. My case has the following fans:

Exhaust:
Dual-fan PSU
3.5 on top of case
3.5 at rear of case

Intake:
3.5 on side of case (do not have plugged in anymore for noise reasons) so basicly it's just an opening now...lol!

you need to find out what it is while your gaming. Play bf2 for 5 min. and alt - tab out and see what it is.

That won't work too well as most cards can drop 10°C or more in the few seconds it takes to get out of the game and open whatever you use to see the temps. This,

will do the job. It should work with the 7600, and it has a built-in graph. It only shows the last 10 minutes, but that is more than enough to see what the card has been running at (Rivatuner is another option as well).

well i was just playing and it only got up to about 67 when gamig so and right when i start my computer up its at 57

and yeah this cases cooling is terrible it doesnt have a fan right on the CPU so the only case fan has a cover thingy directing it to the CPU heatsink

I noticed some artifacts after several hours of heavy usage on my x800xt AIW--turns out the thing was running at +90 degrees C. I had been cleaning in once every quarter, and I had good internal cooling (p4 3.0 prescott always stayed under 60C--which is quite cool for a prescott).

Guess what? There was dust stuck inside the air intake ports on the GPU card! Because some of the air intake ports are arrayed towards the mobo, I had to take the card out of the case and blow the compressed air (gently) directly into the ports.

Now? Ahhh...cool. Ahhh...quiet. Seriously--I went from 59/~90 (idle/load) to 49/73. And where did that jet turbine in my desk go?
