I think the X1900XTX is a little better.

No you wouldn't. SLI or Crossfire is pointless right now anyway. If you wanted to upgrade in the future you'd be better just getting a different card.

You could also get an X1900XTX that comes with watercooling already installed, if you're willing to dish out the extra $$$$

probably a pretty good difference. But if I were you, I'd stick with a 7600 GT for now and wait until vista and DX10 cards come out.

If you're getting a high end card, go for the x1900xt (not xtx, it's more money for 25mhz core and 50(?)mhz mem, which you can easily oc a xt to). Get a normal one, no gimmicks like onboard wc. It'd be a good difference, as long as you use the ati control panel to set everything. If I were you though I'd wait until dx10 cards start showing up before I upgrade again.

i wonder if anyone uses the search function

Id go for a 7900GTx im and nvidia fanboy and will freely admit it, as my exsperience with ATI was not a nice one so its nvidia all the way for me!

Yeah, the 7600gt will be fine. DX10 cards are suppoesed to come out sometime later this year or early 2007. There aren't going to be any games coming out that need more resources than your 7600gt until Crysis, and I'm expecting DX10 cards to debut sometime around the time Crysis comes out, if not before it.

EXACTLY!!! Spending ~$500 on a high-end DX9 gpu when DX10 cards are around the corner is a waste of money, IMHO. If you wait, you either get:

                        a) a great deal on a "last gen" 7900/x1900 series

                        b) a high end DX10 card

If you buy now, not only will you pay a premium, but you'll also end up either upgrading again in a few months, or you'll have to stick with your DX9 card and you'll end up feeling Celeron'd.

For price/performance sake--PLEASE put your money back in your pocket! That 7600 is a great card for now.

Well, actually do whatever you want. nVidia needs to feed their kids, too.
