more ram do any good
so far i have and 1 gb ram using the 6800 256 mm PCEI and works in medium...would i be able to run on all high if i have a 2gb ram?with like 3-4 medium? thamnks:)

Second, no you will not get all high with 2GB and a 6800. But it will improve performance. -

Probibly if you upgrade to at least 2 gigs of ram, the game should run a whole lot smoother at high texture settings. The only problem is that if you dont have a 64 bit processor, you can't have any more ram than 2 gigs because of memory addressing. If you have a 64 bit processor, it should be fine to put 3 gigs in, the extra gig of ram would be for other tasks, just in case, as well as mods which take up additional ram as well. 2nd, the addressing problem applies to 4 gigs not 2. XP can address 3 gigs just fine, it's 4 gigs that it has trouble with. The maximum that can be addressed by 32bit XP is like 3.75GB.
3rd, 3gig is usless as of right now for personal use (ie if your not doing CAD etc). I have 2 gigs, run windowblinds, tons of other open programs, run BF2 and still don't use my full 2gigs, the 3rd would go unused on 99% of home systems, and would be a waste of money.Comment

Ya, getting some more RAM would help with the loading times a lot. I just upgraded from 512 MB to 1.5 GB, and my loading times decreased by about 3 minutes. :)Comment

I'm happy with 1 GB of ram. I can't forsee there being many improvements from having 2 GB of ram to be honest.
OK, the game may run slightly smoother, the game may load a few seconds faster. Cool, but worth £150+ to upgrade to 2 GB of ram? Nah!Comment

The 1GB -> 2GB Upgrade will be quite noticable on that system. But no, you won't be able to run on all high settings.

im just to greedy to put the other 1gb in my older machine and my load times are really quite fast :) so from going from 1gb and entering the game when 1-2 flags are taken to 3gb where i enter the game with only a handfull of other peopleOriginally posted by lil_jimmy_norton

I have spent over 1k on my PC, but that was abouty 12-18 months ago. It's an OK PC, runs BF2 fine. I don't really want 'uber lololz performance!!!' because, quite frankly, I don't really need it.Originally posted by WDA_Endless954

I've got 2gb's of RAM and am usually the first or one of the first into the game.
A clanmate recently went to 4gb's and he's now beating me into the game by a few seconds. Nice...but not worth my upgrading from 2gb's.Comment

i have 4 gig in my rig ddr2 667mhz,
i noticed a big difference going from 2-3-4 but im also running a raptor 10,000rpm an a 7800gtx extreme.
but the main difference i noticed with the ram upgrade was load times at the start im nearly hundred % the first one in the game every time.
this is just because there is more ram to free up other process of the game an push's the data through faster.
the game it self used to use 1gig of ram as standard then youve the OS which i believe is just under half a gig to run.
then to top it off the new patch (so ive read) has a memory leak so now it will use more memory.
me personaly would always upgrade ram you never know when youll need it with todays gaming.Comment
