Id say go with a logitech combo, like a G5 mouse(As for the G7, im not sure if im up to the whole wireless thing) and for the keyboard, a Logitech G15.(or the new cheapo version, G11). Of course before i got my gaming input devices, i used the standard microsoft mouse, ibm keyboard, etc., and when i got all o f my gaming stuff, it was like taking off training wheels. I could see all the keys when the lights were turned off, and i could aim and shoot my USP faster than everOriginally posted by MrMikeG

I was looking at the G5, I am not really hip on the wireless thing. Is the G15 really worth it? I was considering a Z board, but are those mostly gimmick? I wasn't even going to bother with the stupid "BF2" key set, since it looks to me that they are identicle.
Another question is previous generation logitech mouse, the MX518? is it squishy on the top? or is it really oddly dimpled like that?
And what about RAZER mice? are they junk? I remember trying them at quake con last year and not liking them, but that was a while back.Comment

Yeah, the G5 is the ****(in a good wayOriginally posted by MrMikeG ) I love my G15. It looks sexy, the lighted keys helps in the long night runs, and the screen is great for showing time, fps graphs, system info, or any of the many BF2 specialized apps to run though the LCD to display server info and player stats.
I prefer the logitech products over razer or zboard because of sheer quality concern. I have used both the zboard and the razer, and i hope that i just used a bad batch of tehm, because they were terrible. Performance might have been good, but the just felt plastcy and flismy and poorly manufactured. All of my Logi stuff is solid and strong. As for the razer, the main reason i prefer it less is because of its righty and lefty design. If 90% of us are right handed, i want a mouse to be made for my hand style, so the logitech mice fit that niche nicely. Plus, the razer mice haev a whole bunch of little buttons on the side that are jsut to akward to use and to me, would serve little or no purpose. And as for the Zboard, ts just a normal keyboard, nut brokan aprt, and jad the little gamepoad thingy, and had changeable skins(i dont know why they matter). For me, the zboard would be to much of a change. I ve been useing the normal QWERTY//WASD setup for fps, and i dont plan on changin to some weird arrrows and buttons
And for you MX518 question, no its not squishy. Thats just the paint job underneath. The flaghip mice (MX518, G5, G7) all have relatively the exact same body, its just the guts that are different. But the button layout is a bit different going from the MX's to the G's.Comment

Mr Funk I think you just helped me make up my mind, I think im gonna go with the logitech G5/G15 combo, I seem to wear out normal stuff pretty quick, so I want something that is solid. Thats a shame the MX518 isnt squishy wouldnt that be cool?
I am currently using a compaq black keyboard, and a Irocks mouse that i got for free with a rebate, so neither are really anything specialComment

I first bought a trackball and figured that would be great for my gaming since my mouse "space" was somewhat limited....600 some hours later I LOVE my trackball and have even tried a g5, sold that to keep my logitech trackball. It basically comes down to choice and what you're comfortable.
As for keyboards, I have the saitek blue edition...great features, awesome key pressure and laser etched keys (don't rub off). :)Comment
