    ATI overclocking question

    Hi everyone,

For ATI's X850, do they use the same GPU for the XT and XT PE versions? I'm guessing all they basicly do is overclock it and charge more? I'm asking because I have an X850XT and I was thinking of overclocking it to the XT PE if they are both the same core.

    X850XT clocks = 520/1080

    X850XT PE clocks = 540/1180

Just be very, very careful updating the bios or else you'll be buying a new $300 video card because you JUST HAD TO SQEEZE OUT a weenie ~4% effective overclock. If it was me, I'd be a happy camper with the x850xt the way it is. But, just for squeaking out a little extra oomph, I reccomend ATI tool v.24. I use it to o'c my x800xt AIW to a stable 520/1058.

I'm just using ATI tray tools to overclock, why would I need to flash the BIOS?
