i just got all my parts today to build a new computer and i am getting them installed now from some technical geeks i was wondering what kind of performance i would get, these are the parts that i bought

amd athlon 64 3800+ x2 dual core processor

ecs kn1 sli amd motherboard

4 x pny 512mb ram sticks (400mhz each)

samsung 250gb 7200rpm hard drive

samsung 74gb 10000rpm hard drive

hiper award winning 580w psu

jeantech achilles gaming atx midi case - black

coolmaster aquagate 80mm mini liquid cooling system

samsung dvdrw dual layer internal

pny 256mb geforce 7600gt

would i be able to have anything on high?

get a different motherboard, ECS one's are okay, but lack in performance.

it's really not that hard, just a matter of putting everything together. Just read the instruction manuals.

ok maybe i should have done but it only cost me £30 this computer is only going to last me about a year i am getting a new one when windows vista and dx10 card come out

Yes, you will be able to play Battlefield 2 all high @ 1280x1024 just fine. Same with HL2, even with Fakefactory's mod. I don't have Age3, so I wouldn't know about that one.

But why you got 4 sticks of ram instead of two, a socket 939 platform, and a SLI motherboard I have no idea... you can check with us here to get imput before you buy :)

thanks cause i am only going to be playing at 12x10 that is what i like on my 19" flat lcd

i got 4 sticks of ram cause they were only £20 each it will not be much difference will it?

Eh, yeah, I guess its not that big of a deal. Usually people buy two sticks to leave two slots open for upgrading later on, but the next time you upgrade you will be using ddr2, so you'll need all new ram.

tomb raider legend

the lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2

battlefield 2

quake 4

serious sam 2

the sims 2

will my new pc have any probs playing these games and what kind of settings would i get on them

nope, you should be able to play a majority of them on high settings.

You should defragment your hd after you install your games to help with loading times. Even on a 10k hd, you can start to get bogged down if the hd has to read all over the drive for the called data.

Suggestion: I'm guessing you are putting your OS and your programs on the 10k drive? If so, reccommed putting the windows pagefile on the 250gb samsung. That way, your 10k hd can focus on accessing program data at the same time as the 7200 is accessing the pagefile.

p.s. samsung makes great quality, quiet drives for an awesome price.
