Conroe Benchmarks! Yay!

And they are official now, but unfortunately the tests are from one of (if not the) most biased review sites in Intel's favor. Anywho, it seems the E6700, which is expected to release at $312 (edit: $530), is performing on par or better than the $1000+ FX-62. And it's only using 667mhz memory :)

Edit: Ah, poo... it seems like these were also in an Intel-controlled environment . But the NDA was lifted yesterday, so we will see more forum posts and such from the peeps who have already snuck a Core 2 Duo into their mobos

Actually if i am not mistaken the E6700 will retail for like 530 not 312.
But still good if it performs as well or better than a 1000 dollar chip. Now hopefully the labs can get some samples so they can run test themself's.

Ill definitly buy conroe if it outperforms what AMD has, but being as big as AMD is I really dont think they are sitting with their idle. Before I make any fanboyish claims Im going to wait until the official conroe launch (not paper) and see if AMD has anything to fight back.

AMD just leaked their "big surprise"--a platform that allows you to dump 2 dual core CPU's into one mobo (along with $2000 just for the CPU's). They're calling it "4x4"; my initial-and-tentative name for it is "Crap-by-Crap to the Power of $$$".

Im looking forward to getting one, but I am a little worried about availability. Intel only plan to distribute a small percentage of Conroe in regard to their total output (In 2006 only 15-25 percent of Intel processors shipped will be Conroe). The rest will be the regular Pentium 4 crap, and the horrible Pentium D :hmm:.
We all know the laws of supply and demand and I am concerned that enthusiasts will have to pay a heavy premium to even get hold of a Conroe.
Clock for clock we know a Conroe beats K8, but given the expected AMD price drop, it seems uncertain that it will beat it £ for £.
So far we have seen that Conroe beats FX in price for performance, and probably will even if the price gets hiked a lot, but who the hell ever bought an FX? Against a regular X2 or an opty, unless Intel can ensure an adequate supply maybe price for performance will be closer than we think.

Give it time my friend, Intel has better supply than AMD, it might be scarse at firts, but im sure supply will be available.
