    Re: System Help

Well...what kind of settings do you wanna play on? high-i would recommend doing a full rebuild

low-med maybe upgrade your ram and GPU and OC your processor if needed. But we all know BF2 isn't processor hungry its graphics wise/memory

      Re: System Help

      your processer can handle it
and as for ram and video card:
i dont know how much ram you have but it REQUIRES 512mb minumum.I would recommend a Gig or More.

as for the video card, that card is not good enough and not supported. I would go out and buy another one. what settings are you looking to play at? low, medium, high?

        Re: System Help

Yeah I haven't heard of your GPU and its just going to crash on screen if you try and play BF2.

As for ram its recommended to have 512mb but really in theory, its better to have 1GB+

            Re: System Help

OC stands for overclock,it means setting it faster than stock settings, making it faster, but then creating more heat and sometimes damaging it.

ill help with more upgrades in a bit I gotta eat first sorry.

                Re: System Help

a good/cheap GPU for BF2 is a Nvidia 6800 GT or ultra. Dunno about the ATI X800 or similar (since i dont buy ATI ^_^) but i heard they are OK too.
For RAM..u need at least 1 GB but 2 GB are much better for BF2.

                  Re: System Help

okay, hopefully you live in the US. I would probably do something like this.
take out your current 256 RAM and replace it with this to start

if you have the money (and two more RAM slots) get another pair. if you have the money, but only two ram slots total, go with this:
We’re sorry, but this page does not existing. Please visit our home page for more information.

so, if you have four slots, get two sets of the first, and if you have two slots get the second link. that will give you 2GB of ram. if you cant afford the second link, or two sets of the first link, just get one of the first link, that will gieve you a gig.

as for a video card, at high settings I would say something like this:
                  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130275.
if you cannot afford that this might still be good:

any motre questions just ask. BTW, im pretty sure that RAM in compatible with your computer, but just to be certain, what kind of computer is it and how long ago did you get it.

with a 256, I say just trash the 256 stick completely and buy yoruself a good 2g kit.

Also, BE CAREFUL. Dells are notoriously hard to upgrade. If you can even upgrade them at all.

Gatorade, thats a very very old GPU in computer years :) I had an MX440 in my computer from around y2k.

                        Re: System Help

okay, I had that same exact computer. It has one 256 stick, it was a dimension 4550 and had an MX 420 GPU. myCPU was 2.53ghz though, a tad bit faster.

You can go with a 2GB kit and get two 1GB sticks and trash the 256. or you can get two 512 sticks and trash the 256. first I got another 256, for 512. then I trahed both and got a 1GB kit. then i built a new computer.
                        heres what I would do
either the 2GB kit (recommened if you have the money)
or the 1GB kit (still alright i guess)
take out the MX420 and put in something better.

how much money can you spend on a graphics card? because thats the deciding factor.
