Help pls.........Which pc is better?

Hi

I currently have a computer which can play battlefield2 on low settings on 800x600 resolution and i currently have saved up enough money to get a new computer as i dont want to upgrade mine as i dont think there will be much point pls could u help me in choosing a new pc which i will get about 1280x1024 resolution with some good graphics on battlefield2 and other top games (sims2,ageofempires3,hl2,oblivion) ect.

My current system specs is:

intel celeron (r)2.8ghz
microsoft windows xp home editon sp2 build 2600
512mb ram
80gb
SigmaTel c-major audio
128mb ati radeon 9250 (agp)
19" lcd screen

I have seen 2 computers that i want but i dont which one will be better could u tell me pls

option 1:

Intel Pentium D 920 Processor
2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB Cache
2048MB DDR RAM
300GB Hard Disk Drive
Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD-RW Drive
512MB nVidia Geforce 7300GS Graphics

Option 2:

intel pentium D 940 Processor
3.2ghz,
2048mb
400gb
multi-format dual layer dvd-rw drive
2 x 128mb geforce 6600le graphics (sli)
microsoft windows xp home editon
wireless keyboard and mouse

Option 2... Bigger HD... Better Processor... but I don't know if the GPU will end up being better (SLI ehh? :p)
Plus BF2 doesn't officially support Widescreen
Lets see some other commends though

Build your own and save a ton of money. I just built a decent system for around $700.

i dont have any other specs on optin 2 but i have also seen this one i this any better

u see im only 13 so i dont really now how to build a pc i would have a go at it
but it is a risk to waste so much money so them are the only options

If you have £1000 to spend, I think you're better off building your own PC, you could have a KILLER custom built PC for that sum of money.

See if you have any computer-geek-friends in real life that could help you build one :)

I wish I had £1000 to spend on a computer! But then again, all of it would go to pay my debts off! lol and that's just half of it :laugh:

Hmmm... I'd say build your own, way cheeper is what i hear, and there are magazines that show each step of the building process, they are almost idiot proof! But out of those 2 machines i would have to say the 2nd one.

The speed of the hard drive is just as important as its capacity. Don't get a 400GB (or 300GB) hard drive if the speed is only 5200rpm. Look for something with 7200rpm or 10000rpm.

Personally, I favor Nvidia over ATI for graphics cards.

I would highly recommend going with AMD over Intel (CNET did a good comparison of the two a little bit ago).

Just out of curiousity, what manufacturer are these PC's from?

*edit* Just saw you were thinking of building your own. IMO that's the way to go. My specs are in my sig (and they're somewhere around your price range), but I'm not sure what the conversion rate is between US $ and pounds.

*edit #2* I was in a bit of a hurry earlier and forgot to mention that I run everything on the highest setting possible at 1280x1024 and I get on average 50fps and it takes less than 2 minutes to load (not sure exactly how long, but it's fairly quick).
