Well every time i startup bf2 my mic always get muted somehow. Changing servers: muted. Very annoying.ihope this has something to do with it. I also know that you just have to selekt 1 mic boost ( windows OR bf2) If i selekt both my mic is gone.

does Teamspeak stop working when ur in game or doesnt matter wearever your in game or not?

And on TS does the green light, light up when ur talking?

And dont worry, i love helping people at the end of the day i do this every day for work!

That's what I think is happening. Maybe they're related issues. The mic and my headset are definitely operational. Something somewhere in my computer is muting them.

I'm downloading it right now. I'll email you my user name. The time difference between us is like 8 hours, but fortunately I'm on night shift and have the next two days off.

The last time I used TeamSpeak during BF2 was went I was just getting started with some friends at work. It worked perfectly. I was moved to another shift and couldn't play with them as much so I didn't use it anymore. However, there was one occasion where my mic got muted somehow, but then it started working again.

Several weeks later, I successfully used TS again, then downloaed Ventrilo and used it twice while playing PlanetSide.

And on TS does the green light, light up when ur talking?

BF2 overrides the Windows microphone settings. To get it to work, you need to un-mute the microphone in the Windows Volume Controls.

Here is how you do it:

1. To get your microphone to work ingame, you need to Alt-Tab once you join a server and sometimes when you load a new map.

2. After you Alt-Tab, open up your volume controls.

Check to see if your Volume icon is in the System Tray (that little area in bottom right of your screen). If it's there, right-click it. This will pop up a small menu. Click on Open Volume Controls and go to Step 6.

If you don't have a Volume icon in your system tray:

1. Click Start.
(1.5 If you have Windows 2000, click on Settings next)
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Sounds and Audio Devices
4. Click the Audio tab
5. Click the Volume button
6. Unmute the Microphone by clicking on the Mute selection box.

Note: If you don't see the Microphone volume control, click on the Options menu and then click on Properties. Select Playback if it's not selected and then select Microphone (a check mark will show in the box next to Microphone). Click OK.

7. Leave the Volume Controls window open and Alt-Tab to get back to BF2. Next time you join a server or a new map, Alt Tab and do the above again.

Now (if you have joined a squad) you can use the 'B' key to talk to your team and the 'V' key to talk to your Commander.

Also, if you are experiencing low volume on your microphone, BF2 also disrupts Windows Microphone Boost settings. If so, you'll have to deselect/select Microphone Boost under the Advanced button in the Microphone section of Volume Controls in both the Playback and Recording sections. To get to the Recording section, see Note above.

I think you may be on to something. For the first time, I was able to successfully run a mic test under the options tab in BF2. Whoever stated that you already have to be talking when you click "Start test" is correct.

I went into a game and couldn't get anyone to talk back, but that may just mean no one in the squad had VoIP. Also, I noticed when I talked, the icon turned red and shattered, which apparently means it's too loud. Where should I put my settings for Threshold, Output and Recieve?

Also, when I adjusted the Recording volume slider in Windows, I would adjust it down, and it slides all the way to the top by itself no matter where I adjust it. Also, the mic test still doesn't work in Adjust Audio Properties.

You nailed it. I was playing AF last night and communicating perfectly. You said pretty much what S.A.S. was saying, and thanks to you both I can now use VoIP.
