ok my compy crashed so im building a new one. is this good enough to play at atleast with medium settings and some aa? here it is 1.5 gig, p4 2.63 cpu, bfg nvidia 6600 gt factory oc 128mb, 160gb sagate hard drive, and a 500 watt psu. plz tell me. thnx in advanced!!!

you ill need 2gb to make it run smooth, and id get a 7600GT as the 6 series is being phased out. and with atleast 256mb graphics memory. And a AMD processor would be good something like a AM2 x2 3800+ or a AMD 64 3500+!

Clearly S.A.S you know nothing.... I used to have an identical system to what he just said and I run everything High, 4x anti & 100% view distance... and I dont lag. Get a 256 6600 and your right. Looking at your stats S.A.S your either lieing or you have more money then brains. Have to give you cred for getting an MSI Mobo though gg.

Thats relatively what i have, and ive got all settings maxed, 1280x1024, no lag except in asttartr of game b/c of only 1 gig of ram. So you should definately be well off with decent fpsand smoothness.

get the 7600GT, its an amasing card, and yea, AMD, the 3200+ is good, or if you want dual core go the Opteron 165 or the x2 3800+. 1.5Gb of RAM is fine, 2 would just be perfect though.

i have a 7600gs, which is somewhat comparable to the 6600gt in benchamrks ive seen. And obviously its not impossible, becase im running it like that

My older box used to be a 2500 XP 6600GT 128MB and 1 Gig DDR.
If I remember correctly the settings were:
100% view
1280x960
Medium settings
except low textures to go a bit easy on the memory.

It played fine for months, but it did seem to get some moments of lag at the end of it's lifetime. With every patch bf2 just needed a bit more resources.
I think occasional moments of lag had more to do with the 1G RAM than the 6600GT, but that's just a guess.

The system you're suggesting is very close to the edge of what you want to do with it (play medium). You may want to go with a 7600 to be sure.

Everyone has their verison of whats playable. Your actual FPS and resolution is what matters here, not opinions.

The 6600GT dones not cut it with all settings maxed out, I tried it when I use to game with my old 6600GT, @1024x768 unless you like to play at 25fps or lower then so be it.

the reason i say my specs is AA is a seriously good way to kill FPS .

For example my 7800Gtx with no AA easily into the 100s fps. But when i turn on 8x AA i do about 40 - 70FPS. So to make it a worth while investment what i sudgested should do well as lots ppl on this very forums say its a good card.
