7800GT and low FPS? Anyone Else?

Is anyone else getting crap framerates from their 7-series Nvidia cards on this game? I made another thread with very little input and I am wondering if I am the only person that used to get 70-100fps and now only get 20-40fps.

One of my friends in my clan has a 7800GS and his runs terrible.... Worse than my X850XT.

What does your ATi get?

I just did a FEAR stress test and I get

Min: 30
Average: 58
High: 132

But BF2 gets 20-30? Maybe there is a memory issue?

I have 7800gs extreme, and i get UBERLOW FPS when i turn all settings on high...

have you got aa and anastropic on in your nvidia display panel, coz i did when i first got it and i got really bad fps. so if there on turn them off the game does it anyways

I have:

AMD 64 3200+ at 2.43Ghz
2gb of RAM
eVGA 7600 GT

and I can play on all high settings, without low FPS. My average is about 60-70 fps.

hi. i recently bought a Gainward 7800gs+ "golden sample" 512mb graphics card for my boyfriend. All other games (Ghost recon: advanced warfighter, fear, cod2 etc) ran on ultra high or high settings with great fps but as soon as he tried to play BF2 his frames droped to 30fps or less. Nothing fixed this. We updated the graphics drivers and used driver cleaner pro 1.5 to clean out the others, update his motherboard drivers etc. My 6800gt (oc) ran at 70-100 fps on the same settings!

Anyways. So we swaped over the card to my computer and i can run it with almost everything on high with 70fps! He has all the requirements for the card to run. specs below.

My computer:
cpu: p4 3.2ghz (oc to 3.6)
Motherboard: Asus p4c800-e Deluxe
Power supply: Antec 480 watt true blue
Memory: Corsair 1gb TwinX4000 (running at pc3700 cause of mobo)
Video Drivers: 91.31

His Computer:
cpu: p4 3.0ghz
Motherboard: ECS EliteGroup 648FX-A
Power supply: Antec 480 watt true power
Memory: 1gb 3200 (not sure on the brand)
Video Drivers: 91.31

As Far as i can see there is no major difference which could cause this kind of frame drop. Any help with this matter would be much appriciated.

make sure vertical sync is off.

i cant find any settings for that in the new nvidia control centre <.< stupid thing. Is there another way i can check? it should be auto off as far as i know.

i knew how to check it in the old control centre.

I had the one 7800 GTX and I couldn't run everything one max. Even with two in SLI it could be lumpy and not untill I upgraded the RAM did it help.

Personally I blame the 1.3 patch. I could run a 6600GT with everything on max and get 30-40 fps. Even with two 7800GTX's in SLI and 2 GB of corsair RAM and an overclocked to death AMD 64 3700+ I only manage an average of 50-70 fps. I would have expected a lot more from that rig on BF2

i found out how to change it back to default view. Vsync is on ap controled. which means it was the same for him as it was for me. So vsync wouldn't of made it run like that.

with a rig like that yea you should be getting more. 30fps with a 7800gs+ is really weird. The only things that are different are his ram and his mobo. But not enough to make it run that bad.

I have a 7800GT and when I first got it I could run all High @ 1280x1024 with 4AA now I run All medium with 4AA and have no problems with FPS, infact most of the time its 99.9, I don't like dropping below 60fps so thats why I dropped mine down to medium. Specs

Amd 3500 Winchester
2GB Ram
7800GT
250GB Sata drive

My ati does all high (except for lighting, just because I hate it) with 4x AA and it usually hangs around 50-70.
