    Anti Alias

Well, thanks to the Total BF2 community, I have built my first PC.

    AMD 3200+ 2ghz
    2 Gigs Corasair XMS
    256mb ATI x1800XT
    250gb Western Digital HDD

Well, all is well, I can play BF2 full settings. Except anti aliasing.

I shelled out 270 dollars for my GPU. Why cant I have ANY anti alisaing? I installed the drivers on the disk...is my GPU just not capable of it? Im sure it could handle it. I run BF2 VERY smoothly...Any suggestions?

    Re: Anti Alias

that is very weird. i have an x850pro and can run 6xAA. go into the ati catalyst control center and make sure that the box that says "let the application decide" for anti aliasing is on. that might be your problem

      Re: Anti Alias

If the above mentioned method doesn't work, use your ATi control panel to set it to forced AA.

I once installed my ati drivers all wrong and it didnt give me the option to have aa, that may be your problem if its none of the above.

You could update the driver from their site... www.ati.com

              Re: Anti Alias

Always use the drivers off the ATI website, for all we know the drivers on your disk are ~8 months old, released when the x1800 was new.

....ok...im in the catalyst control center. where is the AA options?

edit: i only have verison 1....im downloading version 6 of teh driver off of ATI's website...good call, guys.

edit: ok, it wasn't version 6. It was revision 6. it is still the same. I dont know where to find the AA controls in the catalyst control center.

edit: ok, now it stays at x6 AA, but it doesnt show much difference. oh well, thanks for the help guys!

                  Re: Anti Alias

What you need to do is set anti-aliasing to application controlled in the driver control panel, and turn it on using the in game video settings menu.

Wait what, no difference? You should definately see a huge difference between 0xAA and 6xAA.

                          Did you
Install a new MB? I did
Reformat your HD and reinstall everything? I did

What kind of MB do you have?

You have to keep in mind that when you make these many changes to your system, a reformat is definitely in order- WAIT, I just re-read that you got a new HD so now I feel like the retard. I am guessing that you DID reformat. soooo..... Still wondering why you can't crank up the AA to full. WEIRD!!!
