I don't NEED the mobility of the laptop, it would just be nice, while the power of the stationary is just huge, and could run the latest games very well. Of course it's awesome to be able to go to a LAN and just open your laptop while everyone has to unpack, but again, the power of the stationary would blow them away. I was thinking about getting a cheap laptop with a gig of ram and integrated graphics once I need it for studies and such, and just use the desktop as a gaming machine.

    What would you go with?

Desktop if you don't need the portability. Better value.

Stationary, I was in the same situation as you. Basically no labtop can hang with a desktop and be portable at the same time.

Listen to jimmy, a desktop is a much better value if you truly don't need to move it around.
