in DXdiag, is says my system manufacterer is NVIDIA.can I change that, or next time I reformat is their a way to set it as something else?

nope it is the chipset because mine is a Via chipset and it shows up under Sys Manufacturer

thanks, just wondering. well then, how come my HP or my dell says its made by "Hewlett Packard" or "Dell". but my HP uses an ATi moterboard and my Dell used an Intel chipset mobo... ? :

I'd imagine it would be hard programed in the BIOS of the MOBO, nothing you can eaisly change.

Ok, so it doesn't have to be the chipset. Maybe it's reported by the mobo drivers, or bios as suggested.
