Hey, I'm a old guy who doesn't exactly understand computer's enough to know what parts I would need for a Custom Computer, and though that the Nerds over at TotalBF2 could help me out

I have put enough money aside ( $1,600 ) to finally buy a new computer. But don't know what I need to make one! :cry: So if any of you guys who know you're PC's could tell me what I need and what would be a great Setup for a PC, it would be much Obliged. Thanks for you're time.

I'm posting this on a gaming site, so I would only assume it would be for gaming :laugh: Coulden't resist saying that, but yes, it will be used for hardcore gaming, so I need the highest performance that I can afford with about $1,600. So any help you, or anyone else that can give me some advice on the perfect rig to get, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you once again for you're guys time and effort.

Alright, I'm starting right now. Give me fifteen minutes.

I'm thinking an AMD Athlon (I haven't decided which one yet), nVidia 7800GTX (Video Card), and two gigs of RAM (Memory), as the base parts.

This thing is crazy fast. REMEMBER TO GET TWO OF THE VIDEO CARDS I POSTED. It will come out a little more than 1600. I think it's 1650 or something. The video cards I got you are 7900 GT's which are the latest generation. REMEMBER TO GET TWO!

I would advise agains that RAM, PSU, and the price on that MOBO and CPU combo is awful. You can get an A8n-SLI Deluxe, X2 4200+ from newegg for $491. Also, SLI is a waste unless he'll be running super high resolution.

Give me a few and I'll post my reccomendation.

Assuming he transfers his OS, and has a monitor already. If not, knock the 7900GTX down to a 7900GT.

SLI isn't worth it, your better off with a higher end single card.

200% the price for 120%-130% the performance doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
