They both have 12 pixel pipelines, and both have a 128bit mem interface.
The gt uses gddr3 memory while the gs uses gddr2 (read:slower). As far a clock speeds go, the gt core is at 540mhz (gs=400mhz) and memory is 1.4ghz (gs is 800mhz). I think this is all right, if I'm wrong please correct me.

The GS is by far the inferior card.

The GT is way better. Inferior i think means the oposite of better.

An average gs is around 120 and the average gt should be around 175-180
I have a gs, but im upgrading to a n evga 7600gt ko pretty soon here. The gs is really nice for the price ( mine was $100 after rebate). I run all my games on high @1280x1024(b&w2, bf2, fear, farcry, css, cod2, etc)

I run BF2 on max settings with my 7600GT.

Watch for which eVGA 7600GT you get.

You have the regular 7600GT which model number is 256-P2-N550-AX
This one operates at 560Mhz GPU

Then you have the 7600GT CO which model number is 256-P2-N553-AX
This one operates at 580Mhz GPU

The 7600GT retails for 199.00 on the eVGA website, and the 7600 GT CO retails 219.00. The only way to tell the difference is in the model number, the GT CO is 553, the regular is 550.

Goodluck finding anything at bestbuy for a reasonable price. Computer hardware is something that needs to be purchased online IMO, the cost savings are enourmous and the variety is much much much much much greater than any brick and mortar store.

There are exceptions like Fry's, but even they jack up pricing on many componenets compared to newegg or other leading online etailers.

Check prices online before you go to BB, and once you're there I wouldnt be surprised if you throwup or faint.

                      7600 GT FTW

wouldnt buy it yet though, nVIDIA is having problems with the 7600 and the 7900's memory running very warm (i think its the memory)
                      that and the gpu "freezes"

I was having the problem with my memory getting hot (I have it overclocked quite a lot, until I installed some memory sinks onto them. I haven't a problem since. I was also able to increase my memory oc 20mhz.

ALWAYS buy your computer hardware from newegg!

                          7600 GT

                          7600 GS

I'd personally go for the GT, much better clock speeds!

that's the CO, but don't pay that much for it.
