    How much of a differance??

    Right now i have;

    Intel P4 3.2 GHz
    DDR400 2048mb Ram
    Gygebyte 6600GT 128mb
    Asus p4p800-e deluxe. (AGP)

    I was wanting to buy the eVga 7800Gs CO super clocked AGp card from new egg for $300. Does any one know if thats the best AGP card i can get?? and how much of a change will it be. please post pics (if ya got the card.)

    7800gs is the best AGP you can get. all 7800gs are [edit] pretty much the same, except for reliability--so go with who ever has the best warranty.

    Pics won't do you much good--unless all you're planning on doing with that card is viewing slideshows. after all, you can dial up the eyecandy all the way with 9600xt and take a screenshot. it will look dang, dang good, at a glorious 4fps. but you won't be able to tell it's running at 4fps from a screenie.

    sry.

    i'm waiting another couple of years to upgrade, because i really want to see a HUGE difference when i drop a thou on computer parts. [edit] having said that, it looks like you should make the most of the system you have. know you dropped a pretty penny on 3.2 and 2gb of ram! i'm gaming with a 3.0, 1gb, and a x800xt AIW.

      It's one of the best cards you can get, though the gainward bliss 7800gs+ is much better, the only problem is getting them shipped here. I'm pretty sure overclockers.co.uk will ship to the us, though.

        it is a very good card, and with your current rig, upgrading to the 7800gs would be very beneficial.

          I don't see a point in spending $300 on an AGP card, for like $360 you could buy a 7900gt and cheap PCI-e mobo. Seems like a waste to me.

            when i do go to pci-e i want to have the option of sli. and i dont want to spend more $$ on a new cpu. and they dont make socket 478 mobos w/sli.

                The 6600gt is not a bad card... I'd just stick with it until you can afford to go PCIe. Yes, there is a big difference between the 6600gt and the 7800gs, but the 7800gs is just too pricey for its performance

                  like knght said, buy the 6600GT, and save up your nickels and dimes until you can go PCIe.
