Why not? There are plenty of reputable FS/T forums in the "enthusiast" community. Just this week I have seen a dozen 7800GT's going for $190-$230 give or take some haggling, just as an example.

I sell all my old parts online, before they are totally obsolete, much easier to justify buying high end parts if your getting a chunk of change back from each old part.

Or dual monitors, such as 2x19" monitors.

A friend of mine has dual ASUS 6800 (256mb) ultras. He also has dual monitors though, so it kind of balances out.

He runs everything on high, damn does it look good.

My poor 9700PRO runs everything on Medium - no AA either

Re: What is the best $$ saver?

512Mb Cards are starting to become useful.... but only on highend models. The ONLY 512MB cards people should consider buying are the x1800XT, x1900xt and XTX and 7900GTX.

Any low end card with 512MB is a gimick and will not be able to take advantage of the extra memory. You would have to be running an exessively high amount of AA and AF on a high resolution to take advantage of the memory, and with a low end card that will net you a whopping 10-20FPS for example.

As for SLI/Crossfire, you dont need a 30", a 20 or higher can benefit, but only at high resolutions with AA and AF. If your gaming at 1280x1024 you probably shouldnt get SLI/Crossfire.
