It's a great score, but not enough to make me consider upgrading from my 7800GTX pair.

Just curious, but what kind of score would impress you? I'm fairly certain with some more cpu overclocking, cleaning up my memory and bios settings, putting my videocards on water then voltmodding, I can break 10k. Not to burst my own bubble, but my score at all stock in '05 just bearly breaks 10k. I gained nearly 500points by overclocking. A good score doesn't come right out of the box. And sli certinally isnt for everyone. It's pretty finnicky.

Jofaba, how well does a pair of 7900's fit in your setup? They look like a dual slot card. I've been wondering if they'd even fit in my box.

They are not dual slots. Actually, the stock cooler on these is horrible. It's the smallest cooler I've ever had on a videocard. They overheat a little at stock speeds and I get black spots, but not as bad now that my airflows cleaned up a bit. I can't wait to put them on water. But even if they were dual slotters it'd be fine because this mobo is spaced out well. The sli bridge is over 2 inches long.

i have the .3dr file but I dont know how to open it. i didnt submit that score as i didnt have my internet connected at the time, but I do have a screen shot and the file

I'm not dissing your rig. My stuff is all stock too, so I guess I just expected better than a 33% (roughly) performance increase between one generation of card and another.

2 x 512mb is usually faster than 2x 1GB. I'd say 2 x 512 is the optimum memory setup for running 3Dmark.
