What is the best gaming computer to buy on the market for battelfield 2.
Looking at alienware and viscious, both cost approx 6000,00 us dollars, just curious if it worh it? How about the 64 bit prociessor is this all what it is suppose to be? thks

Keep in mind you can build a totally kickass BF2 rig for under $2k... One 7900GTX, 2 gigs of fast ram, a 10k HD, and an X-Fi card and you'll get 85% of the performance of one of those $6k machines for 1/3 the cost. spend the difference on a 30" LCD.

64 bit processors will not be needed for 2-4 more years. Until 4GB+ of ram is standard, there will be no incentive to move forward.

As for the best gaming PC's. Alienware and Voodoo and Falcon make great computers... but they are EXPENSIVE AS HELL!!!!!!


The most value smart gaming computers are self built from parts aquired online.

A good $2000 computer would be ....

x1900XT
NF4 SLI/ATI Crossfire mobo
X2 3800+
2GB PC3200/4000 ram
250GB hard drive SATA2 16mb cache
Maybe a 150GB raptor if thats your thing, but i wouldnt recommend.
x-Fi
DVD +/-RW

Throw in a nice low latency 19 or 20" monitor and your good to go.


As a rule of thumb, the absolute most expensive parts are usually a poor value for the money, and things like SLI/Crossfire are usually not worth it unless you have a 24" or larger monitor or really know what your getting yourself into.

Buying the 2nd or 3rd best aprts of everything for the most part is the smart thing to do, and will give you 80-90% of the performance for a significantly lower price.

IMO, 1 Gig is fine for RAM. AMD Athlon 3500 + will do, and go for a GeForce 7 series. And a 180 Gig + HDD will do.

This is substantially similar to my system in terms of the basics would make short work of BF2. I like the Raptor drives as they load maps in record time. If you're up for it you can get even better load performance from a RAID.

If you have more money, add an X-Fi or by all means buy the 7900GTX and a faster processor, although I would not given that you'll probably want to upgrade when Vista, DX10, and the new AMD socket chips hit the market early next year.

IMO, 1 Gig is fine for RAM.

Not if he wants to run all max high settings, nope that will not cut it. 2 gigs is the best bet.

I bought an ABS Ultimate 7 system for 2K and got:

Pentium D 830 3.0 Ghz Dual Core Processor
Asus P5WD2 Premium Motherboard
Seagate 7200 160 GB HD
1 Gig of Corsair DDR2 SDRAM (upgraded to 2 Gigs)
Geforce 7800 GT Graphics card
Sound Blaster Audugy 2 ZS Sound card

I am able to run the game on High on every setting with no lag at all, Really makes a difference on how the game looks from the Pentium 4 1.8 Ghz computer I had before, it was 4 years old and time to be replaced to keep up with demanding games
