Quick Memory Question

I'm gonna be getting some new ram soon and just want to ask a quick question

My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-8I915PM(F) closest to mine as far as i can tell anyways it has 2x DDR 333 & 2x DDR 400 ram slots currently ive got 2x512mb DDR 400 in it and was wondering what i could put in the other 2, as ive heard that both will run at the same speed (no doubt utter BS)

btw im looking at some OCZ Gold XTC 2x1GB DDR 400 ( so if i can put my old DDR 400 into the DDR 333 SLOTS and it would work the same so be it)

well ive never heard of a mobo supporting two 333mhz and two 400mhz, but then of course I havent heard everything.

I would say it either 1. wouldnt work. 2. would operate at 333mhz, or 3. all work at 400mhz. really my post didnt help, maybe some clarification or a link to the manufacterer site, and by clarification i mean help from someone else

Your motherboard support DDR, DDR and DDR2 slots or just DDR2. There is no such thing with the i915 chipset (or let alone any chipset) that has different slots for DDR333 or DDR400.

Check and see if you have 184 pin DDR slots, or DDR2 slots and then upgrade accordingly.

hmm must be all DDR 400 then as i just tried my memory in the other slots and got the same specs from cpu-z,, gdgd just need to order the 2gb dual kit now ^^
