Wireless connection question

What I wanted to know is if I could use any kind of wireless network card for any router? Like a Linksys router with a D-link Wireless PCI Card or vice versa.

Also has anyone used a Buffalo Technology wireless router, If so what are the Pros or Cons?

I just moved into a new house and I'm going wireless and hoping I can still game well. So if you have any other advice for me please fell free to voice your opinion. Thanks for your help in advance.

As to your first question I would say yes. I have a ZyXel router and a Marvel wireless card.

I wouldn't game from a wireless connection though, only hard-wired.

Yes you can use any card together BUT if they have special features you have to make sure there turned off or it may not work. For example my Netgear Router has range extender and i cant use it on d_link cards but can with netgear cards.

My rule is the more you spend on networks the better it will be. I personally dont like Buffalo. the equipment feals tacky, fragile and is unreliable.

I use both of these equipment and they rule. The game adpter runs anything with a erthenet port and there both easy to set up. If you need help setting them up PM me and ill be happy help.

Ive been gaming wireless for 2 years now and never and ill repeat that NEVER had a problem witha lag ETC. Only ppl with cheap networks or have them wrongly set up have that problem.

I've been playing on wireless as well. Unfortunately, my laptop has a rather bad card, that drops out from time to time. Check reviews out, some cards are much better than others.

A part from that, wireless is wonderful. Just make sure you got a decent password, you can never trust the neighbours.

Well said. It's good to hear it can be done successfully. I do have a cheap network b/c all it is intended for is to provide internet access to my other PC's. It all depends what you are willing to spend. Cheers!

Use WEP encription, dont use passwords i doubt theyll guess the 28 or so digit code to get into it lol!

Very true. Additionally, make sure that the router will only connect with the unique MAC addresses for the PC's you own only.
