    RAM upgrade, 4 slots working?

I am just now gonna order my new computer, with 1 gig of RAM. I plan to eventually upgrade to 2 gigs, but i need some more money first. I know its best to buy full ram at once, but as i said, i cant.

So my question is: The motherboard comes with four slots. I now fill two of them with 2X 512 mb cards. Will there be any problems installing two more 512 mb ram cards later from the same manufacturer?

I read a post here once saying something about double sided ram chips? I don't know what this means.

    Motherboard: EliteGroup NFORCE4-A939
    RAM: Corsair Value Select memory - 1024 MB ( 2 x 512 MB ) - DIMM 184-pin

no, there is no problem running 4 512's to make a 1 gig. But i just read a post of a guy who had a problem running them in bf2. So i would wait on it. But see what other people think. Not just me.

On older AMD motherboards and especially third world brands like Elitegroup I'd suggest getting a 2 x 1Gb set of ram.

aslong as you get the same sticks you will be fine . tho they will run at 2T instead of 1 . but in real world performence you wont be able to tell. but as wreck said above some boards are finicky with 4 sticks .

Why do you think they make 4 slots?!

like wreck said, some older AMD boards have trouble using 4 sticks. My old Compaq system had 4 slots, but it never fully used all 4 sticks.

To make the consumer believe that under any circumstance you can use those four slots. However thats not the case. The simple answer is marketing.
