7900GT speeds

ok ive just bought a new XFX 7900GT Extreme Edition that is supposed to run at 520/1500

when i go in the nvidia control pannel it says 520/750, which i thought was correct as it is supposed to be doubled or somthing.

but when i do in ATI tool it says its running at 520/375? whats up with this?

Its a nVidia card not ATI card why would you belive what a program says that was made for ITA cards?

anyway does it really matter, I get 70-80 FPS on an unclocked 7800GT, I dont see why people need to spend so much money on somthing that isnt going to get any more preformance out of a game than other cheaper cards.

Its DDR memory so its effective speed is 1500mhz when its only telling you its running at 750. Go with what the NV control panel is telling you.

WTF are you talking about? I run 8xAA and 6xAF with mine, let's see you to that with a playable framerate on yours.

That's why people spend the extra money.

ATI tool was originaly for ATI cards but it supports nvidia cards now, and i didnt buy the card for bf2 alone, like jimmy says you can run bf2 with max aa and af on a 7900gt with very playable framerates where you couldnt on a 7800gt, thats why people spend more money on them.

right so why is ati tool telling me my memory is running at half the speed? i prefer using ati tool for overclocking its much better then coolbits

well I THINK 1. ATI tool displays the DDR speed, so in reality, its 750 (375x2). thats the way ATI tool works, but dood. dont use an ATI program for an nvidia card what are you thinking lol!!!

2. the nvidia control panel im pretty sure DOESNT display the first rate, so it displays the actual speed....750. I could be wrong of course, and it could actually be double THAT.

or maybe, since it has ddr3.... its 2 times the ddr, and then two times that. who knows... those are just guesses im kinda tired right now I just woke up.

DDR is double data rate... 750mhz is the actual speed, multiplied by 2 to achieve the effect of 1500mhz.

750x2=1500


EDIT:

DDR2, GDDR2/3 etc... are all refined forms of DDR. All of them are double data rate, so multiply the actual mhz by 2 for the final speed. Just wanted to add that, since there seems to be some confusion.
