Re: Installing ram
In the picture, the long vertical gold chips are sticks of ram. Not all ram modules have heatsinks like mine, and theres a good chance yours probably are just green. There also might be open slots around them for extra sticks and at the ends of the sticks, there are little white tabs that lock the ram in place.
Also, see if your motherboard supports pc3200 ram. check here http://www.crucial.com/index.asp -
Re: Installing ram
k
Step 1) http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/ Go here to get the website to see what ram you have and how much you can put in
Step 2) Coem back here and post a link to its results. Then we will advise you.
Step 3) Order what we recommend (if you agree).
Step 4) Install the glorious stuff. by taking the side panel off earthing your self and then seating the new stuff in the open slots.
Im sorry its not very clear but the ram on mine is to the right to the red fan!Comment

Re: Installing ram
difference between DDR & DDR2 is mere performance slightly, un-noticable.Originally posted by Curtis12ok so i got 2 sticks of 256MB PC23200 and 2 slots taken with 2 left.

Re: Installing ram
Both will work. But once again, avoid tigerdirect like the plague. Try NCIX, if you can tell me exactly where you're located, (you can PM me that info if you want, I only need a city, preferably closest major city) I might be able to help youf ind a good parts dealer nearby. I personally find corsair value select to be solid ram chips with good performance and unbeatable price.Comment

Re: Installing ram
didn't see much trouble with the cabling. as long as the air is pulling the heat away from the cpu, and as long as it has as long as it has a (relatively) unobstructed path out, the temps should be fine. "cabling"--except for the basics of not putting the EIDE wide on top of the cpu--is most often for aesthetics, not performance.Originally posted by S.A.SMate that is a big case, the cables are getting sorted soon.
