A friend in need of advice!

Hi

My mate wants to upgrade his MOBO, processor and his power supply.

He and I have already discussed the required parts. But he runs X64 windows like me, and he is worried if he changes all those parts it might not work and microsoft will have a hissy fit. His old parts are going to be sold to help pay for this upgrade. So will microsoft will be fine if, he changes those parts or does he have to do something special like ring them up.

I built the machine from scratch and he bought the OS OEM, but i personally have never done this upgrade so dont know the awnser to it. can u help?

I think new MOBO means he will have to reinstall windows. And if it's OEM he might have to ring them up and complain till they give him a free key.

damn might ring microsoft sometime durng the week and find out for him!

You can do a repair install and everything will be fine. Here are a couple more ways to keep from reformating:

so if the old mobo has nforce 4 i can put another nforce4 mobo in trouble free ish
