Alternatively, Id like to see a solid-state hard drive with no moving parts...

Think super-flash memory that is instantly accessable across terabytes of space...

As fast as you can click a file, its open... as fast as you can double-click a launch shortcut, the program is loaded and ready to go...

As fast as you can click a server, the map is loaded and the bottleneck is the connection to the internet...

Of course, but that time we'll all be on gig download speeds... hahaha.... the future is that eventually computers will get as fast as our brains and they will be able to anticipate our desires... want to play some BF3142? Sit down at the PC (if they even call it that then), put your fingers on the keys and think about it, poof... its loaded.

I just want a high density disk that is failsafe. I'm perfectly happy with a terabyte if it's guaranteed not to die/break/overheat/fail!

Amazing, imagine the amount of porn you could put there. I agree with Jofaba, as long as it's fine, won't break, A terabyte is enough by todays standards, currently the average computer user wont need that much space. But who knows, it's great for management.
