BF2 Frame rates Question

Okay I am having a problem getting great FPS in BF2. These are my settings and specs

P4 2.53
1.5 GB ddr pc2700
Radeon x1600 pro 512 ddr2
I am using extrem ati 1.6.3 drivers

Now I run BF2 at mid on all I get high of 52 low of 15 during heavy battle.

Do you guys have any ideas to imrpove FPS?

what's your resolution?... sounds like you're getting about the right FPS for that video card...

52 is decent, but ya as Zefram stated that about what you'll get with that vid card. Whats you Anti Aliasing at?

Maybe change some of the settings to low, such as texture filtering or dynamic shadows.

type in "renderer.drawfps 1" in ur console without the quotes and to turn it off just change the 1 to a 0

(the number on the left is ur fps)

I just recently got a 7600gt, and can play on all high, but frame rate suffers (dips into 20's). Point is, I moved all settings to medium with High Geometry and it really helped my FPS. I honestly didnt notice THAT much of a difference at those settings. Try it out and see for yourself.

Oh yeah, and I tried different AA as well, and settled on 2xAA. 4x and 6x didnt look that different, especially when just runnin and gunnin.
