For anyone that has used the trial version of AVG, I want to know that the viruses it finds and puts in the 'Virus Vault' stay there once the trial is over, or does the thing just let them roam free again?

Just curious, but why are you using the trial version? You can get the free version from here,

As far as something that is in the virus vault, why not delete/empty the vault when something is found. Or are you saving the virus for posterity?

lol. I have never used AVG before. the reason keep the viruses there is because when i first scanned them i emptied it then i scanned again, found the same viruses again.

Depends on the virus. You may find that the reason it keeps finding the same virus over and over is that the virus has managed to install itself as a service (or at least convinced AVG that it is a service), in which case AVG can not fully clean/remove it from within Windows (same thing applies to most AV programs). If that is what is happening in your case, boot into Safe Mode and run the scan again. Then scan again when back in Windows.

Use avast!, it's free, detects more viruses, and cleans your computer.

Try disabling System restore, then running the scan. When it finds the virus, delete the virus (empty vault), then re-enable system restore.

Cool cheers, ill try that out. I would have used norton but hasn't been updated for 2 years, might buy it again soon with the firewall.

Ahh i know norton makes my PC slow but not that slow that i would complain, i mean its not that bad for me.

Yeah, Norton uses a sh**load of resources compared to AVG, and it's really not much better, plus it costs money! Free is much much better!!
