the prices for vista are actually really could considering....
i figured they would be round 300$ cheapest. but 179$ for the premium is awesome IMO!

and why would you want the beta now...other than to not get as many viruses...

only programmers/developers have use for the beta version getting vista now you wont have any compatibility just stick with the vista conversion packs
