Re: Question
If your HDD is fragmented it means that parts of programs are all over the place. So if youdefregment youe HDD, the programs puts everythign together, it puts all of one program in the segments or sectors etc next to each other, this helps for accessing and loading and file transfer. In simple terms its like a fragments hDD is having a bookshelf and the books are in no order, when you defrag it you put them all in order so you can find everything faster and more easily.
Yes, you should remove your old drivers before you update.
Your BIOS is the black and white screen you see as soon as you turn on your pc. To get into this you usually press "del". It will say "press (KEY) to enter setup" That will take you into the BIOS.

Re: Question
Imagine your computer like a kid's room, and lets say windows is a kid. What happens, is when the kid gets something out to play with, they don't put it back, and leaves it in the middle of the floor. What happens over time, is the room gets really really messy. If you ask the kid to find something, it normally takes them a while to find what your looking for. So, you make the kid clean it up their room, and things are easier to find.
Your computer is the same way. Windows is like a kid and doesn't put things back where they belong. When you ask Windows to do something, it has to find what your asking it to do. The first place Windows looks is where it's suppose to be. If you have used your computer a while without defragging it, it takes the computer a while to find it.
Defragging your computer is an excellent way to get a minimal to moderate performance upgrade. Everything gets put back in it's place, so Windows can find things quicker, therefore you get a slight boost in performance in games (I normally get about a 3-8 fps boost in games).
