Need help on new build

Hello I wanted to know if my new build would run BF2 on the highest settings, and any other game I try to play.

AMD 64 3700 Processor

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe ATX AMD Motherboard

7900GT Graphics card

2 Gigs of Micron Ram

Seagate 7200 RPM 300 GB SATA 2 Hard Drive

Sony External DVD Drive

I'm not sure on the motherboard is it a good gaming board and if there a better one pleas tell me. I would like to keep the price under $1,500.00
I'm also not sure if I should get a 4800 Processor is there going to be a big difference between the to? If you could build a better PC for 1,500.00 please post the specs. I'm also wondering if I should wait a few more months for
DX10 and AMD2 to come out.

Looks pretty good, but what kind of psu do you have? You also should get an internal optical drive, external ain't so good. Finally, have you looked at getting a x2 3800+?

Get the x2 3800+ not the 4800+. The x2 will be more future proof and OC's better. Also, instead of the A8N Sli get the A8n32 SLI Premium.. its very good and OC's well.

He never said 4800, he said 3700+. Besides that, there really isn't that much of a diff between the sli and premium, so I'd just go with the sli (or deluxe).

get the 3700+ if ur only gonna game... if ur doing video junk...i say go with the 3800 x2 if u really want to spend dat extra money just so it can say "X2 Dual Core" :p

Yea he did.. and the A8N32 has newer tech and is better than the A8N for OC'ing. Also Fuxy, the CPU (in BF2) does not play a big role, a few FPS here and there , if you ask me, does not make a massive impact upon gameplay. The x2 3800+ is a far better option as more and more games come out that take the full advantage of the dual core technology. The also OC very nicely.

That link is to a "case", not a "PSU". 500W is fine, but you should look for a decent brand, i.e. antec (really good stuff for middle-end budget), themaltake, a few others.

"Video junk"=video editing, rewinding, snipping, cutting and pasting. Put simply, having dual cores lets more data threads (instructions) be processed simutaneously, and that helps greatly in turning something your CPU + GPU + memory system understands to be digital bits of information into something your eye + brain system understands to be analog visual information.

edit: oh, and if it was me, I'd buy a 100gb and a 200gb hd (or, maybe one of those fancy new 10,000rpm hd). regardless you get a decent bump in windows performance from having your pagefile on a separate hd, plus it is nice to have your main o/s and application files on one HD, and your music, video, burned dvd's, etc on another.

There is a long list of 500W PSU's. Only advice is to go to google, and type in the make and model of the PSU and the word "review", and see what sorts of test other folks have done. It is tempting to go cheap on a PSU--"500W is 500W, right?"--wrong!

Hooking a cheap, $14 power supply delivering that many watts to your system is a good way to (at least) roast your motherboard. When PSU's fail (they all do eventually) it can also take your CPU, GPU, and memory with it.

I like antec (good protection, reliability, quiet), myself, but there are other good ones out there. You have to do your homework:

The fan system is push-pull (2x80mm, 1 in front, 1 in back, on opposite sides), instead of a single 120mm over the cpu, but it should perform equally well (remember that with a single 120mm, the air has to make a right angle to exit the case, so more hot air will "stick" inside the psu with a single 120mm).

Edit: I'm thinking of going water cooled to dose aney one have water cooled if so how do you like it and is it worth it
