ViewSonic VX922 - Amazing!

Hey gues, i just got my new 19" ViewSonic LCD in... its sooo nice.. the picrute is crisp as.. im yet to play a game with it.. but its so bright and just clear. No dead pizels and as it has a DVI slot.. i dont know why.. but things seem to be running faster.. is this just me.. or would this new, and far superior moniter actually enhance perfomance?

But yea.. wow.. going from a "crappy" dell 17" 16ms lcd to this is just mind blowing.. lol... Just wanna thank you all for helping me decide to buy this one.. so, you advice is very much appreciated..

ive got the 19inch version of the Dell, its a great monitor although the stand is a little flimsy, but it wont break.

Awesome news. Right now that Viewsonic is the monitor to buy if you game as your main interest. Its a 6-Bit panel, meaning lower color/image quality, and it has poor side viewing angles... but the gaming response time is supposed to be incredible.

As for the Dell 2007, its sexy but I'm personally wary of such a large screen for gaming. Eventually a game will come around that doesnt play nice at 1680x1050 which is a pretty high resolution and you get screwed running interpolated graphics.

I think im going to wait for the Viewsonic to come down in price, or for 8-bit panels to come on the market with a full color spectrum that gives similar response time to the current fastest 6 bit panels.

If i got one of them widescreen LCD's and my new 7600GT, would i have to run BF2 at some crazy resolution? Is there anyone here that uses the widescreen LCD? does it squish up BF2 at all?

You either have it stretched or the top and bottom cut off. BF2 does not support widescreen as far as i know. Also, yea i think ill "sell" that ViewSonic to my brother, as he will need a new one in like 3-4 months or so and he was looking at that one, then ill go get that new one.. or someother nice one thats out on the market. I didnt want to go bigger than 19" as they then start to go widescreen and not everything supports ws at the moment. but i am very happy with it so far. i was playing the Age Of Empires III demo last night, the lighting was superb. On my old moniter the reflection of the sun off the roofs was reasonable. Now with this moniter i feel like almost squinting. Also, with the change from the old connection to the DVI, would that improve overall performance? Everythign seems faster and smoother, like loging on to Windows XP, smoother, menu's come up instantanious, where as before they would be slightly delayed.
I must admit there is only one problem thati have had so far, and that was with the driver install CD. My comuter did not recognise the cd. Such a strange thing, i would put in the cd, and nothing happened, so i would go to Windows Exploer, and my CD drive was not there.. wierd.. so i had to g online and download the driver from there, but aftr that it was all good. (The moniter ran just as weel without the driver, but i thought better to have it, just incase).

I have one of these VX2025's. The default res is 1680x1050, but you can use 1360 x 768, which doesn't look as good, but it works if your video card isn't up to par. The HUD is slightly squished in BF2, but hardly noticable. I would only suggest a wide screen if you have and plan on keeping a top of the line video card.

Also twsmit, the viewing angle is great, i have it set up in the middle of my desk, and next to my desk is my bed, if i sit on my bed and look at the LCD (at an angle of about 70-85*) i can see everything perfectly, the only slight grudge i have is the vertical viewing angle. When i look at the monitor standing up, the whites go slightly grey. but only every slightly so, but it is noticable, and if i tilt the moniter and stand so im looking almost from ontop of it, the whites are a definate grey. But the side viewing is fine. :)

As for changing from a 17" to a 19" improving performance, its plausable. 19" has to be running a higher res? which may simply let your graphics card stretch its legs, although the improvement is more likely just in your head

1280x1024 vs widescreen
Trouble is BF2 eats graphics cards, AOE3 looks sweet in widescreen and doesnt make smoke come out the back of the computer.
Trouble with the 20.1" monitor is that i dont think its big enough, its personal opinion but i think its just adding workload to a graphics card for little gain. Id stick to normal aspect under until you can get the 24" and graphics card to cope.

I am running the same resoloution, on my 17" i was using 1280x768 and im using that same reso now. But im thinking more along the lines of the change from the analog to digital output. Wow.. AOE3 in WS would look so good!
