Re: what to do?
No video card that comes out today is or will be able to run DX10.
DX10 will not be released until Vista is, and will all its delays, I wouldn't base a decision on buying a card for that. I'm not too familiar w/ ATI, but the $300 7900GT has run the game smoothly for me since I installed it. I use it on mostly 64 person servers (backed up by using 2gb of ram though). I can't remember the last time I had a studder due to my pc (as opposed to the server).

Re: what to do?
I wouldnt worry about DX10 for at least another year or 2. Besides the fact that the hardware doesn't exist, there is also no operating system to run it with, and Vista just keeps getting delayed.
Even once it does come out, it will be a long wait for DX10 games decent enough to play on it as obviously there will be a migration period for gamers switching over to Vista. NOTE - Windows XP apparently will NEVER run DX10, so it will involve you having to upgrade your OS and probably your machine.
Long and short of it is, forget about tommorow, buy the best card that suits your needs and budget today.

Re: what to do?
Sweet spot (for Nvidia) = 7900 GT. Good stuff (SLI for about 600, not too bad either).
