    NV5 rev 3 testing

ive just installed an nv5 rev 3 cooler to my 7800gt

ive got a question is the back plate not needed for the 7800gt as it has no memory chips at the back of the card

    unlike the gtx

its idling at 36 degrees centigrade with a room tempreture of 20.5 degrees im going to do some stress testing now

ill keep you posted on results

    (edit)
cant see much of an improvment 38 idle 55 load

    any ideas???

    Re: NV5 rev 3 testing

I just installed the Accelero X1 over the weekend, and in my room w/ 27*C or warmer ambient, my card idles around 38-40*C. The temps you have looks like its in the right ballpark judging by your much cooler ambient room temp.

EDIT: You dont need the backplate FYI

        Re: NV5 rev 3 testing

the temps dont worry me at all

the problem is that ive not seen much of an improvment over the stock cooler

the plate that holds the cooler in place isnt pressed up against the card but the screws wont tighter any further i would show you a picture but my bro has my camera

im thinking of looking to see if the copper plate has pressed up against the core

if i take the cooler off would this mean me having to clean the core agian of thermal grease???

        edit
hmm seems to be idling at 40 degrees know
        and at 61 load
