Yera it is worth it, i was playing with my cousins laptop (its a Sony VAIO, he uses it to record songs, etc...) and it has an amazing sound card in it, i forget which one, but the point is, when i got home (back to my on-board sound) mine sounded so thin and just no life to it. I am very seriousally thinking about spending the $400 odd it would cost me to get a good sound card, as like you i play music through my computer all the time, along with movies.

Ok it's all here and set-up, and it's bloody amazing!

When I first loaded up battlefield 2, some guy shot at me, and the bullet ricocheted (sp) off of a metal object behind me. It sounded so real I instinctively turned my head around!

One thing I am noticing at the moment is a lack of bass. I would have thought artillery hitting the ground nearby would cause my floor to vibrate with bass but instead I get nothing. It's all very 'trebley' at the moment, but only in BF2. Any ideas?

BTW my speakers are Logitech S500. Middle of the range.

Try adjusting the EQ, is it just in BF2 or is there no bass when you play music too?

Well I played music when I first installed everything, and bass was there when I tried playing some music. I then calibrated the speakers, played BF2 and noticed there was no bass. Now there is no bass in music either. WTF!

Loko at the EQ and try the "reset" or "flat" option, see if it helps.. then try the "bass booster" if nessecary.

Turn your subwoofer level up

I have tried all of those settings. Why I calibrate my speakers it appears to not know the sub exists:

Turn the volume knob up on the sub itself

You might have to run a sub line out connection, or run the stereo Front L/R thru the sub crossover

There is no knob on the sub itself, just on the speaker for "bass" and that's turned all the way up. There are the following wires coming out the back of my sub:

Yellow : Centre/Sub to the Centre/Sub line out on my card
Black : Rear to the Rear line out
Green : Front to the Front line out

How else can I connect them?

It's just like my system isn't acknowledging the subs existence...

Oh, and can someone confirm that when artillery lands nearby, I should be hearing a lot of bass?
