What is the fastest vid card I can get w/o bottleneck by the rest of the system?

System Spec:
Dell Dimension 8200
Intel P4 2.0GHz CPU
Intel i850E Chipset
340GB HDD
AGP 4X
GeForce FX5200 128MB
Rambus PC800 512MB(4x128MB)
PSU 250W

I wonder what is the fastest video card I can upgrade to without get it bottlenecked by my old system. The problem is that ram upgrade is out of the question for me because of how picky and expensive Rambus SDRam are. All the ram will have to be the exact size and speed or it won't work. So if I wanna get 1GB of ram I'll have to replace the four 128MB ram with two 512MB or four 256MB and that'll cost me $300+. The only upgrade I can think of is a new 400W power supply and a video card that won't get slow down by the AGP 4X interface.

I have me eyes on a Radeon X1600pro 256MB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161003) but what other cards do you suggest? My budget is somewhere under $160.

I'd say something like a 6600 GT would work well.

id upgrade just about every part of your system, save maybe the case, power supply and disk drives then worry about graphics

you dont have many options considering your power supply, which is 250W.
6600GT requires @ least 350... and so do other top line cards like 6800GS,etc.. i'd recomend upgradin that first

I would suggest saving up for a new system, it doesnt cost much for a low-med system these days, one that can run most on high.

Some PSU companies make dell-specific versions of their products. PCP&C does make a Dell PSU, for example.

There comes a point where theres very little point upgrading an old system. Especially with new processor sockets and new graphics cards soon to be released.

Im making that decision now, i have an old 754 Mobo and Semperon CPU, with an AGP socket and i think, hell get the 939's or wait for the AM2, and get PCI-e, why put $500 odd into the 7800GS when i can get a far better system that will last a lot longer.
