Serious Problem with a Hi End system.

Ok. I have been trying to figure this out for almost 3 - 4 months. If you can figure this out I will paypal you 10 dollars or if you dont have paypal I will ship you a Ten. Here is the problem.

Okay heres the problem. I hope you guys can help me. I HOPE lol ive been going nuts.

Okay here is the story. Ive been playing battlefield2. An online game in which it demands high performance and good graphics. Now ive upgraded my computer. Here are my specs.

RAM - 3 Gig's. Took 1 out for dual chaneling and no help.

Video Card - Radeon X850

Monitor - LG 4ms .264mm dot pitch 1400:1 contrast ratio

CPU - 3E HT Intel (3.0)

HD - 60 Gig

MotherBoard - ASUS P4S800

Now the problem I am having is when I am playing these games such as CS source and Battlefield 2 I get alot of lag. Now you think I might be playin with jacked up graphics. Even though I should be able to play on that level I cant. I play on the lowest level and still get lag. Can anyone help me?

Now I know its not my harddrive cause that shouldnt do anything. I have checked for spyware and for virus's and its clean. Its not my internet connection. I have reinstalled BF2. Still dont know what the problem is.

Could it be my motherboard? ANy help would be highly apreciated.

Hi. Have you tried a single payer game to totally rule out any lag due to internet problems?
If a single player game still stutters badly then I would first check to make sure your CPU, Graphics card and RAM is reported correctly in Windows and monitor the temperatures.
If they are correct then I would make sure the motherboard BIOS is up to date then reload Windows and install all the latest drivers for all the hardware. Do not load any anti virus, firewall or any other program until you have tested BF2. After that if the problem still exisits some bench testing apps may help you find the problem or good old hardware swapping to find the faulty component.

by any chance do you have hyper threading enabled ? if so disable it and test again

or you might need to reinstall your internet.

You running spywar Doctor ? I updated mine about a month ago and got lag in all my games offline and online. Now i close it down when running games and everythhing runs fine?

What type of internet connection are you running and what is the speed? It could be an internet related problem with maybe your ISP conducting repairs etc.

if your using onboard sound try and set the settings lower..

onboard sound uses cpu cycles which may cause system lag also..

So you've probably got all the drivers installed... be sure you got the right ones for your motherboard...

have you checked the pagefile isnt set too low for 2 or 3 gigs of ram ? you should set it to system control or else around 2067 mb....

Have you checked catalyst control center if you have vertical sync and catalyst a.i off ?

got the right directx ? look in google for directx 9.0c april 2006....

I have a fairly high end system and this is what helped me fix those issues.
Update all video card drivers, chipset drivers, make sure bios is current.
uninstall all those programs you dont need but are taking up room on your c:\.
defrag your hard drive! Very important step.
If you can, run a speed disk program on your c drive to optimize everything.
and if still issues, run a driver cleanup program, anti-spyware program, virus scan etc. make sure to end task your virus program when playing, have as little as possible in the system tray when playing. also just for cleanup sake, delete temp. internet files, and go to start - run - %temp% (enter). delete all the files in there as well. With all that done, you should have a very clean start and all should be well!

Well. The audio was on software. What does that mean? I changed it to hardware and it went ape on me. I think I have a soundblaster.

depends, but what you should do is go to the site of the company that made your board. Youll find a download section, and it will have new chipset drivers (very important) and new BIOS drivers. the bios may be difficult depending on your motherboard...I have an asus so I can auto update from the internet. some boards you'll have to create a boot floppy and load the bios that way...and if something happens during the flash, your bios will be shot and your board may be hosed. not very cool.

This one i dont know about, but I think you can right click my computer, properties, hardware manager, and do something with the processor in there. I dont have Intel so i'm not 100% sure about that one.

this one is pretty easy. right click your "my computer" icon and go properties. then advanced tab, performance "settings" button, advanced tab again, then on the bottom, virtual memory "change" button. I myself double my page file. once you put a value in there (I put double for high and low), make sure to hit "set" and then you'll have to reboot. It may not even let you set it double if you have a ton of ram, but 1 1/2 times your ram would be sufficient and probably even more functional if you have a lot of ram.

The audio on software means your software is controlling the audio, and not some piece of hardware that you may have. If you have onboard sound, leave it software, if you got a seperate sound card running your sound, you may want that on hardware...but if it went ape on you, i'd just leaev it. not many soundcards have their own onboard memory anyways.

Is the lag like constant stuttering? Low fromerate? Or maybe just stuttering every once in a while?

How would I do this?

It's in your BIOS settings, press F2 to get into the BIOS when your computer is loading up, before any microsoft screen comes up. I haven't seen many problems with HT myself, but you can give it a try.

Ok. I just downloaded 3DMARK and I tested my graphics. My fram rate was an 8. Maybe jumped to 12. WTH is going on?
