Help With Headphones (Mic Question)

I have a blue logitech headset (can't find out whats its called) with a Mic. Now when I speak into the mic I can hear my self, but nobody can hear me. (this happens in both BF2 and Counter Strike) How can I fix this so I can talk to people. (I am currently using the BF2 Demo) Thanks for any help. Zcarp OUT!

If you have a Creative card (seems you missed that bit of info), check under Recording Properties (either in the SurroundMixer or Windows own) and make sure that it is set to micrphone and not "What you hear".

If you can, check on some one elses computer tos ee if your mic is working, I can't count howm any headsets I've destroyed. Although usually I find it's one of the ear pieces that die first, losing the mic first can happen.

Were you able to use it earlier? Did you make any sudden changes like a reformat, new sound card or anything of that sort that could have possibly adjusted settings? Try using windows voice recorder and record a clip. Can you hear yourself? Check your sound settings, check that you haven't muted your microphone, and your inputs are set to microphones.

Are you plugging your headphones into a USB port or mini jack port? Are you using a soundcard, or are you plugging your jacks in the motherboard, which would mean the plugs are in the same area as your PS/2 keyboard/mice and printer plug port?

Can I get any help?

If people can't hear you but you can hear yourself talk on the mic, then the problem probably lies in your settings for audio in windows (I assume you're using windows).

1) Double-click on the little speaker icon on your desktop
2) You should see one of the columns dedicated to "Microphone". If you don't, then do step 3, else skip that step.
3) Click on "Options" then "Properties" then make sure "Microphone" is checked in the list and then click on "OK"
4) Your microphone is probably not muted in the "Microphone" column, which is why you're hearing yourself talk. Mute it by clicking on the little check box.

That will probably fix both problems, but if it doesn't...

1) Click on the speaker icon again
2) Click on "Options" then "Properties" then click on "Recording" and make sure the microphone box is checked below, then hit "Ok"
3) Make sure that the microphone is the selected device.
