Medusa 5.1 headsets (ProGamer Edition or Original Single User?)

Hi guys,

I hear all this talk about how great the Medusa 5.1 headsets are and I'm planning on buying it today. However, I noticed there are two models of the analog headsets -- the ProGamer Edition ($103.61) and the Original Singer User model ($89.08). Which one do I go for? Has anyone tried both and hear any difference in sound quality? I'm assuming I should go for the ProGamer Edition model, but I wanted to check with you Medusa users first before I decide to buy it. :)

Also, I currently have a Creative Audigy 2 ZS card. Would that be good enough to get a good quality 5.1 surround sound for BF2? Or should I go for the X-Fi series? Is there a big difference in sound quality between these two cards?

I have the Original Singer User version and it is great for games. the only difference I can see between the Original Singer User & ProGamer Edition versions is that the ProGamer Edition has an additional usb lead to give an alternative power source option.

Medusa makes great headphones, the only problem is that they look like they came out of a freakin 1960's chopper. they are huge , bulky, and heavy to some extent.
I use these and I have had them for 18 months now with no problems:

What headphones are you using now?

I'm currently using the Logitech 350 USB Headset.

Medusa makes great headphones, the only problem is that they look like they came out of a freakin 1960's chopper. they are huge , bulky, and heavy to some extent.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But I don't play at Lan parties or anywhere outside of the house, so I don't have to worry about other people laughing at me. Sennheiser was actually my second choice for my next headset, but I think I'm going to give the Medusa's a try. I'm just debating which Medusa model to get.

I have this one:

50mm, and it is VERY confortable, you can wear all they and your ears wont feel it... but donno if any medusa or sennheiser sounds better or not... are they confortable? is it worth a try??

My friend just received his Medusa ProGamer Edition headset yesterday and I tried it out. It does feel comfortable on the ears, but I dunno about the sound quality. It didn't sound all that great as people claimed here. He has the Audigy 2 ZS, with BF2 audio options set to Hardware, High, and EAX enabled. I've read how the Aritillery bombs sounds scary and really good, but when I heard the Artillery drop, it sounded the same as my Logitech USB Headset.

Are there special Audigy settings people are using to make the game sound really good on the Medusas?

They must not be set up right. I had to go into the Xfi console and set my speakers up for 5.1 and adjust the EQ before it sounded right. He may have to do something similar. You should feel arty more than hear it in the Medusa headset.

Yeah, that's what he did. He set it to 5.1, adjusted the EQ's, used the Theater/Environment effect, and enabled CMSS 3D, but it still didn't sound all that great to me. I'm assuming it's because the Audigy 2 ZS sound cards aren't as great as the X-Fi cards. I looked at the comparison between the two cards and noticed the X-Fi cards got way more sound features.

nononono... you have use "game" settings on the card not the "theater/entertainment mod" I know it sounds sh!t that way!!
