    Computer is being ridiculous

    i am running on a
    ECS K8T890-A (crap i know)
AMD Athlon 64 3500 overclocked to around 2500Ghz
1.5 gigs Corsair Ram (1gb stick and 1 512mb stick)
    Jaton FX5200 (crap i know)
    300 Watt Power Supply (yucky)

Game runs ok, but every once in a while (averages like twice a day) the game and/or whole computer crashes, even if im not even playing BF2 like when im surfing the web

i know it has to do with either my motherboard or my video card, but what do you guys think?

i am planning on getting a abit an8 32x motherboard or asus motherboard in the next few weeks, just wanted to know what to buy first: a motherboard or a video card

ur PSU (power supply) is way to low, im surprised u can actually run ur system with such a low wattage. U need an upgrade on that defo, pref minimum 460W & get a performance on TAGAN do great PSU's http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Tagan.html

great thanks alot ill look into that

they aint too terribly expensive so that makes me happy :)

am i correct when i say some cases come with PSU's because i want a new case as well, i have a very old looking one right now and i want to "pimp my pc" (watch out mtv) so if they do might as well bundle it up

      anyone else?

Powersupplies that come with cases are crap, I would put one in my worst enemy's PC.

300Watt PSU is fine for the system you are using now, but if you upgrade you will need more.

Instability could be becuase of a bad overclock. Is the overclock Prime stable?

what would that mean? does it stay constant? yes it does it stays in that area according to cpu-z

when i upgraded from 768mb to 1.5 gigs ram, i went to start up my computer for the first time and it never went all the way to the start up screen before crashing. i went into BIOS and turned down the overclock on my cpu and it started up perfectly, occasionally crashing. shall i just forget about overclocking?

If that's all you did then your overclock isn't stable. Maybe you should read a little on the subjset before you go messing with your computer and fuxor it up.

you have to do more when you overclock than just put the desired number in the BIOS? i know to watch temperature, but i didnt think it was anymore than that

nothing to be proud about, stupid really cos i bet ur prehiperials wont be able to run at full load since they're limited to power.

Eh it's limited in a way, No overclocking, no more than 1 hd, video cards, etc. I'm hoping to build a new rig at the end of the year though

                          Re: Computer is being ridiculous

i set my cpu back down to its stock speed 2200mhz and bf2 runs exactly the same so whatever haha no more crashing i can honestly say problem fixed

but what do you guys think i should upgrade first (most important)
                          A) Power Supply: at least 500watts should be around 100
                          B) Motherboard: ABIT AN8 32x for $100
                          C) Video Card: 7800 GTX for $150

reasons for low prices is because my friend has "connections" lol
