I am getting this card. How do I overclock this card, and what would be the highest I can overclock it without having a total meltdown?

You use coolbits, just google it. Install it, click auto detect and you're done. -

You'll need some decent cooling if you actually want some damage-free results
Zalman do some good ones, I personally have a vf700 copperComment

not really. I self oc'ed high than the auto detect, and haven't had a single problem with it.Comment

What speeds are you running?
What are the temps while idle and under full load?Comment

Re: Overclocking 7600GT Card?
core: 615mhz
memory: 790mhz (dunno the effective)
temps aren't too bad, 52c at idle, only about 56-58 playing on a full 64 man server on the map Strike at Karkand. I am prolly not pushing this card very hard, I am sure it could go alot faster, but I don't feel like tweaking it any more.Comment

Idle is like ~66, full load is ~72Comment

Re: Overclocking 7600GT Card?
It's prolly cause I have the case on the table with me, and the AC window unit can blow into the back of the case. I turned all the fans around so I intake from the back and exhaust from the front. Thankfully I live in the middle of Texas, so it's hot pretty much 10/12 months of the year so I can leave the AC on and help cool my comp!Comment

Re: Overclocking 7600GT Card?
it depends on the card. I bet with the stock cooling on the 7600gt, the "auto detect" would be fine. but on cards like mine, it heats up pretty bad.Comment

Re: Overclocking 7600GT Card?
I would not overclock this card if you are not well versed in the procedure.
Even then you should only really attempt it if you need it, such as getting extra FPS out of an old card.
Overclocking a new card when you have no experience is a risky business and not reommended.Comment
